Important gilded wood sculpture, Xian Shan, representing the “Mountain of the Immortals”, the lacquered and gilded wood ensemble depicting a group of deities on pedestals against a rocky background. Raised by a base with carved and openwork claw feet.

A similar sculpture in the collections of the Musée Volkenkunde, Leiden under inventory number RV-5970-1.

Provenance: Private collection, purchased from Hong Kong Art Craft Marchant Association in 1979.
