Important sculpture of Shiva in polychrome wood. Shiva is represented in the form of Natarâja, the lord of dance, standing on a pedestal and overcoming the demon Apasmarapurusa with his right leg. His face is wrathful, his eyes bulging, his moustache full and his curly hair crowned with a large diadem. His body is covered with numerous jewels and two cobras, distinctive symbols of the divinity, wrap around his shoulders. His eight hands hold various attributes, including a trident, a shield, a spear, a sword and a damaru drum.
