Kim Khanh in gold, insignia representing the highest distinction of the Annam Empire.
From the reign of Emperor Tu Duc 1848-1883, the Kim Khánh was offered to high-ranking mandarins and sometimes to French officials sent to Indochina to maintain diplomatic relations.
– The inscription on the front: nhất hạng kim khánh / kim khánh means first class
– the inscription on the back: “Đại Nam hoàng đế sắc tứ” / means “awarded by the Emperor of Annam”.
This Kim Khanh was presented by the Emperor to a high-ranking French official around 1900 (King Thanh Thai created this type of Kim Khanh in 3 classes from 1900 onwards).
