Lacquered wood table screen decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays featuring a poem on one side and a landscape on the other. The frame is in Qiangjin and Tianqi lacquer (colored lacquer and gold-incised lacquer), with a scroll and lotus motif.

Provenance:
Former collection of Alberto Giuganino (1887-1979), Rome.
Professor Giuganino was curator of the ‘Museo Nazionale d’Arte orientale Giuseppe Tucci’ in Rome.
Among his most important publications was the catalog of the first major exhibition of Asian Art in Europe, the well-known ‘Mostra d’Arte Cinese’ at the Palazzo Ducale in Venice in 1954. He visited China for the first time in 1957, accompanied by Giuseppe Tucci, at the invitation of the Chinese government, and subsequently dedicated his life to the study of Chinese art, as well as to his collection of Asian art, the majority of which he later donated to the Museum, of which he was curator.
