Sold 8 000 €

A rare wooden figure of Guanyin, she is depicted seated in padmasana. Her left hand rests elegantly on her knee. Her right hand, now missing, probably originally held the lotus. She is dressed in a pleated dhoti, a scarf tied across her chest. Her shoulders are covered by a supple cloak, one sleeve of which floats gracefully around her arm. She is adorned with an elaborate necklace. Her meditative face is encircled by a tiara, her eyes encrusted with glass balls. Her hair is coiffed in a high bun, two braids falling to either side.
