A rare pair of porcelain bowls, the outside decorated in blue underglaze with a floral composition of scrolls and lotus and magnolia flowers between bands of Greek, leiwen. The base is encircled by a band of classical foliage, repeated on the inside as a border, with a peony stem in bloom enclosed in two circles at the bottom. An underglaze Yongzheng mark in blue in a double circle below the base, corresponding to the period.

A slight chip to the neck and a crack to one of the bowls.

Provenance: French private collection, brought back from Asia by the current owner’s grandfather, who served as an official in China and Indochina in the 19th century.
