Inside, a series of inscriptions framed by a frieze of gold foliage and lotus flowers on a blue background.
Signature: Shu Ji Shi, ‘De Zheng’
The inscriptions sent by De Zheng to a high-ranking official concern a series of remarks and technical details (notably rural taxes).

Provenance: Collection of Baron de X. Military diplomat attached to the British General Staff, who took part in the China, Cochinchina and Annam campaigns between 1854 and 1863. Then by descent in the family.
