Small, flattened seal in light celadon jade, probably from an official or court porcelain kiln. The matrix decorated in light relief with archaizing decoration in the style of the Warring Kingdoms, the knob carved in the shape of a ram. On the base the three characters “退思堂” Tuisitang “Room where one retires to meditate.”
This was the name of a kiln working for one of the Qianlong emperor’s sons.
