Small royal table in lacquered wood, hojokban the red lacquered top is encircled by a black lacquered crosspiece from which four curved legs adorned with openwork scrolls are set. The shape of the legs inspired the name of this type of table; hojokban, which translates literally as: “dinner table with tiger legs”.
An inscription under the base suggests that this table was used and dated in one of the halls of the Gyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁).

A similar table with the same type of inscription under the top is preserved in the collections of the “National Museum of Korea” (국립중앙박물관) under inventory number: Sinsu 12536
